Charon Talisman artifact entirely hand forged.
Engravings of the Styx/Acheron and the nocher boat on brass guaranteed without cadmium/lead/nickel  (like all my metals); Rare Greenland Green Sodalite set in the skull (fluorescent under black/UV light), small amethyst and pretty zoisite ruby.
Astronomical symbol of Charon (moon of Pluto) openworked in a small copper plate. The pendant is 80mm high and 60mm wide. 
The weight of the creation, including the necklace, is 54.2 g.


 
NB: The artistic approach of this project was based on the fluorescent particularity of sodalite under UV light to reproduce Charon fiery gaze under black light, however the pierre had some imperfections visuelles which I decided to put into perspective by inserting it into the sculpted skull to magnify it, keeping only the flattering parts visible.
The price of the creation takes this into account.
The necklace is made of a brass chain with welded rings and brown leather, closed with a hook.
The creation is accompanied by its case watercolored by me with the effigy of the divinity.


 
It is a unique creation that I will not reproduce like all my Talismans.

Part II
Charon name is often explained as coming from a poetic form of charopós, ardent gaze, which can mean cruel, shining, or feverish eyes.
The glowing eyes could be a reference to the angry or irascible character of Charon as it is often described, but the exact etymology is uncertain. According to the historian, Diodorus of Sicily, the character of the nocher and his name could have been imported from ancient Egypt.
Formerly, Charon has the appearance of a surly, dirty-looking old sailor, holding a pole in his right hand and using his left to bring the dead on board.
The Etruscans imagined Charon as a demon of death, close to Orcus, his general appearance remaining human, a sort of executioner with pointed wolf ears, wings, nails and a hooked nose, similar to the talons and beak of a a hideous, grimacing bird of prey, armed with a great hammer to knock out recalcitrant mortals, its huge mouth open like the jaws of a devouring animal. In their necropolis the scroll of fate sometimes replaces the mallet in his hands.
Later, Charon accompanies Mars to the battlefields, where he knocks down and kills the heroes destined to perish a violent death. Always sentinel of the door of the Underworld or the tomb.
In later depictions, Charon appears more conciliatory and refined.
In modern times, he was depicted as a skeletal being wearing a black cowl, analogous to the Grim Reaper.

The origin and history of zoist ruby stone remain very little known, but it is a rare mineral used since the oldest civilizations. It is very present in the oral traditions of East Africa, being considered a magic stone with divine virtues. Since then, the stone quickly became famous among kings due to its bewitching brilliance and rarity. According to certain texts which are interested in this subject, the stone was widely used to adorn the jewels of kings, such as those of Saint-Louis, Charles V or the Duke of Berry.
