Catubodua est une déesse guerrière de la mythologie celtique gauloise, dont le nom signifie corneille (bodua) de combat (catu) in Proto-Celtic : Katu-bodwā.
She appears to have been a Gallic equivalent of the Irish goddess Badb who flew over battlefields in the form of a corvid, presumably a hooded crow.
Under this identification, Badb Catha foresaw the fate of warriors before battle.
La déesse mère celtique - la Morrígan / Morrígu _était une triple déesse, apparaissant comme une trinité composée de Macha , Anann_et Badb .
A complex divinity, she could influence the outcome of battles. To invoke it, you had to croak.
Celtic warriors were given a rather special funeral ritual which involved leaving their corpses on the battlefield for the purpose of carrion birds (in this case crows) coming to eat them. According to Celtic beliefs, the crows were incarnations of the goddess. The idea was that it fed on their bodies and flew up into the sky to join the gods with their warrior soul.
Its altars had a basic form : a hole in which offerings were placed by covering it with earth. Sometimes his offerings were the bodies, severed heads and skulls of enemies killed in battle. Otherwise, more classic offerings, such as spoils of war, weapons, armor, jewelry stolen from enemies. Others referred to his symbols such black feathers or otherwise furs which also underlines his friendship for the loups and wild animals.
