Once upon a time there was a goddess who is said to have inspired all the mermaid stories told around the world for thousands of years; the Assyrian goddess Atargatis considered a continuation of the Bronze Age goddesses. She was worshiped 4000-3000 years ago in ancient Assyria and later throughout the Mediterranean. Doves and fish were considered sacred to her: doves as an emblem of the Goddess-Love, and fish as a symbol of fertility and water life. In his temples of Ascalon, Hierapolis... there were ponds containing fish that only his priests could touch. In 1936 it was noted that "there is a teeming pond of untouchable sacred fish in a dervish monastery three kilometers east of Tripolis, Lebanon.";
According to a myth, Atargatis had a daughter with a mortal named Hadad: Semiramis who later became Queen of Assyria, known for creating the famous Hanging Gardens of Babylonia. In another story, an egg fell from the sky into the Euphrates, was rolled to earth by fish, doves settled on it and hatched it, and Atargatis came out. The Pisces Constellation was created in his honor.
Atargatis is depicted with a fishtail, veiled, holding the cosmic egg, flanked by barley stalks.
The Greeks called her Derceto and the Romans called her "Dea Syriae" the Assyrian goddess. A rationale for the cult of abstinence from fish is naively explained to mean "Without Gatis"; the name of a queen who is said to have forbidden the eating of fish. It has also been proposed that the element -gatis may relate to the Greek gados "fish" So Atar-Gatis can simply mean the fish-goddess Atar.

Tourmaline

It is said that the great magicians of antiquity invoked this gem to protect themselves from demons escaping to Earth. It is undoubtedly these ancient legends that make it still present today, so essential and so famous in the world of protection against evil entities evolving on earth.

India also revered this gem. It was used as a tool of information and help to discover what was good and positive and also what was not, in order to be always vigilant. It was also highly valued by alchemists who, perhaps because of its pyroelectric effect, considered it to be related to the philosopher stone. They believed that it was this stone that would confer enlightenment, give power over spiritual matters, unite opposites, and transmute base metals into pure gold. Even today, this mineral stone is used by African, Native American and Australian Aboriginal tribes as a protective talisman, protecting against all dangers.

Garnet

During antiquity, it was difficult to identify garnets, the empirical tests being not very rigorous. They were therefore sometimes confused with rubies, just like spinels. However, we will then note a great difference in hardness and cleavage between these stones, thus making it possible to distinguish them. Indeed, this stone being much less rare than sapphire or ruby, it was used to engrave agates, jaspers, ivories, etc. to represent faces or animals, in Rome, Greece or ancient Egypt.

In the fifth century AD. J.-C, the rise of the garnet was confirmed during the fall of the Roman Empire. For good reason, the barbarians used it in jewelry, taking up the Byzantine style, to which they added their techniques and their know-how of cloisonné. The Vikings also used it during funeral ceremonies, lending garnet the virtue of being able to guide the dead to Valhalla.

The Garnet stone provides anchoring and self-confidence. A true stone of passion, its many virtues bring joy and strength to live, energy, courage and confidence. It is attributed the power to free oneself from negative behavioral patterns and the power of regeneration, to help fight discouragement, sadness, failure and emotional instability. This stone promotes self-respect and also helps to face obstacles or a feeling of persecution.
